To be able to rule an element you must know the origin of it. The Origins were cited in magic spells which were given to the sorcerer by the gods.

Chanting of these Origin Spells were thought to cure diseases, stop bleeding, conquer the game etc.

The Origin Spell was only one part of the whole incantation which included also arousal words, prayers and finally the curse for instance to dispel the evil.

However in addition to this concrete level of the Origin Spells there was also a very ancient, metaphysical layer with them. According to the old wisdom every phenomena had their cause, origin in the time before the present cosmos, in the chaos of the Dream Time.

So as the sorcerer defined the origin of the element he expressed also its place in the primaeval chaos, in the world egg before ANY phenomena took place. The sorcerer thus retrospectively tended to restore the situation with disclosing the origin in the Chaos.

Among the The Origin Spells were the spells for the following elements: The Projectiles, The Iron, The Fire, The Nine Diseases, The Wolf, The Rock, The Bear, The Frost, The Weasel.

They were part of the common repertoire of an ancient Finnish sorcerer. Some of them are very ancient, some have their roots in christian religion and cannot be older than 1000 AD.
